Our Vision
A world where every child has access to the quality education he/she deserves
Our Mission
At KOA Education Foundation, we work hard every day to
- facilitate access to quality education for every less-privileged learner
- increase access to quality learning and study materials,
- reward academic excellence among pupils, and
- equip pupils for the digital world with qualitative and practical ICT training .
Our Story
KOA Education Foundation is a non-governmental organization born out of the communal need to ensure every child has access to quality education (SDG 4).
We were established in 2018, when our founder, Akintomiwa Kafilat, realized that pupils do not have equal access to resources to finance their education.
Being a teacher, she had overseen classes where some of her pupils had to be sent home for non-payment of tuition. Others had to rely on the generosity of their mates to access study materials. This undoubtedly delayed the pupils’ learning process and hindered their performance in school tests.
Being a woman with a superhuman passion for education, Kafilat decided to do something about this unfortunate development, and KOA Education Foundation was born.
What we do
Our work at KOA Education Foundation is centre on three things; they are to:
- Ensure no child is denied education due to lack of funds.
- Facilitate pupils’ access to quality learning and study materials at little or no costs.
- Ensure the education every child gets is qualitative enough to prepare them for present day challenges.
As daunting as our goals are, this is the work we still do.
Securing the future. One Child at a time
Over the last three years, with the resources available to us via donations from generous and well-meaning members of the public, we have paid tuition fees for brilliant pupils and sponsored less opportune pupils to schools in their immediate environment with the provision of school wares and learning materials.
Since our establishment, we’ve been joined by team members and volunteers who have helped spread our tentacles across six states in Nigeria, including Lagos, Ondo, Osun, Kano, Abuja and Ogun, the epicentre.
In 2019, we established a small public library (Greatness can come from small beginnings). The library is currently accessible to pupils of all surrounding schools, and it is getting enquiries about the availability of higher education learning materials. While we would love to expand access, limitations in space and funding will not allow us to do that for now.
The foundation is passion-driven and borne out of the need to ensure that every child has access to quality education. We cannot overemphasize the impact of education on these young ones. It is the only way we can equip them to be responsible global citizens of the future, and there is no knowing the magnitude of their contribution to the world tomorrow. Only time will tell.
With you, we will do even more
To continue our work on expanding the reach of qualitative education, we are open to recommendations, partnerships and sponsorships.
